George T. Hayes, Jr., CFRE
George Hayes, Jr., CFRE, has been a professional fundraiser since 2006, following many years of volunteer activity in philanthropy and more than 25 years as a marketing executive guiding some of the world’s largest and most successful companies. His marketing expertise has proven valuable in developing strong fundraising programs for the nonprofits he has worked with.
George’s most recent fundraising experience has been with independent schools. As Director of Development for Mount Saint Dominic Academy and Montclair Cooperative School, he revived a moribund capital campaign, established successful development departments, and expanded donations to their annual funds. He now shares his expertise with nonprofits as a consultant.
Prior to his career in philanthropy, George was an executive vice president with McCann-Erickson, one of the largest advertising agencies in the world. In that role, he advised highly respected companies, including Nestlé, Sony, and General Motors. He was recognized by the noted industry magazine Advertising Age as a “Media Maven”, an annual award to a select group of professionals who have demonstrated innovative approaches to marketing planning and execution.
George is a member of the board of the New Jersey chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP-NJ) and chair of their annual Conference on Philanthropy in 2018 and 2019. A graduate of Georgetown University, George lives in Nutley, New Jersey, with his wife, Joanne.
